In 2010, Los Siete Misterios was born from the mission to preserve the passion, traditions, and culture embodied in Mezcal production. Eduardo and Julio Mestres spent decades sampling Mezcal from villages across their native Mexico. Local Maestros Mezcaleros use methods passed down through generations to produce authentic, super-premium Mezcal. The brothers partnered with these families and created their own distillery to collaborate and produce traditional Mezcal.
Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal is made from Agave Espadin. Doba-Yej is Zapotec (an ancient Mexican language) for Agave Espadin, and they chose this name since this mezcal is different from the Siete Misterios Espadin. Doba-Yej is the first product made by Siete Misterios in a copper still rather than in the clay pot seen in their other mezcals. The milling for this mezcal is done by a horse-drawn tahona which is a volcanic rock wheel that crushes the agave, rather than by hand like the other Siete Misterios mezcal. At Siete Misterios, each batch is made by a different mezcalero, and depending on the batch, your bottle of Doba-Yej either came from the Santiago Matatlan or San Luis del Rio regions. You may check your bottle for these details.
On the nose, a beautiful bouquet of white flowers, green bell pepper and citrus. Super easy on the palate with a rich, inviting texture that is bold in earthy and floral flavors. Enjoy a long finish that some say is “smoky," which comes from the char of the agave that ends with a touch of cinnamon and sautéed plantains.
